Phonics

In our phonics lessons we have been been talking about rhythm and rhyme and have been recognising and repeating rhyming words.

 

  • Rhyming songs- sing nursery rhymes together (twinkle, twinkle, 1,2,3,4,5....once I caught a fish alive etc), emphasising the rhyming pairs you hear
  • Rhyming Match Quiz- support your child in matching the correct rhyming words in the presentation below

Communication and Language/PSED

We have had a fabulous start to the school year this half term and children have settled in so well. Take some time to look over the 'Gallery' pictures on the link below with your child.

  • Can they find pictures of themselves and their friends and describe what they were doing?
  • Which areas of the nursery can they spot? E.g. home corner, outside area, construction area?
  • Can they talk about the things they have enjoyed doing in nursery?

Reading/Writing

Read the story, ‘Dear Zoo’ if you have it at home or look at the book here:  

  • Visit the book’s website and play the interactive games here: http://www.dearzooandfriends.com/games
  • Add your own animals into the story e.g. So they sent me a...hedgehog, but he was too prickly....so I sent him back.
  • Draw and label your favourite animal from the story.

 

 

                                                               

 

Maths

  • Use this tens frame to practise making different amounts. Or, your child can practice making amounts to 10 using different objects from the house or garden e.g. leaves, socks etc.
