Ideas for SEN children

Welcome to Year 2

Class Teacher: Mrs Barr

Teaching Assistant: Mrs McGanity

The summer term is a busy time for year 2 children with SATs tests taking place throughout the month of May 2019.

It is very important that your child is punctual and attends school every day so that they do not miss important lessons.  We would like to welcome Miss McHugh to year 2 who is presently on teacher training. I'm sure she will be doing lots of exciting things with the children which will enhance their learning.

Home Reader

We would like parents and children to continue with our reading at home scheme. It is important to practise comprehension skills and to develop reading with fluency once the children have grasped their phonics skills, Reading every day will improve their confidence and embed objectives that they have been studying in class. Home reading books will be changed twice a week on a Tuesday and Friday.

During the first part of the summer term homework will be linked to skills from past SATS papers moving on to topics we are covering in class. Some weeks it will be maths and other weeks it will be Literacy or both.  Homework will be given on a Friday and handed in on a Tuesday.

P.E is on a Tuesday afternoon. P.E kits consist of a white top, black/navy blue shorts and black pumps. Please can you ensure that your child has a full kit sent into school in a P.E. bag with their name written on all items

Year 2 enjoyed their trip to the Archives at Kirkby Library
