Year 3

Welcome to Year 3 class page where you can find out all the information you need to support your child’s learning. Below is some information about the things your child will be taught this year. We hope you visit this page often to see the progress your children are making and see how much fun they are having.

Year 3 is an important year for your child as they become Juniors moving to Key Stage 2.

Below you will find two home learning links. Please select the correct link depending on how many days your child has to self isolate. We have included a suggested timetable for your child to follow and there will be 5 lessons a day to follow the school's daily lesson structure.

Class Information

It is extremely important that your child attends school every day unless they are too sick to come in. If your child is going to be absent, please ring the school to let us know.

Please make sure that your child arrives at school on time (8.45-9.00 am).

Please ensure your child has the correct uniform and has their name in everything including their coat and P.E Kit. For P.E children should have a white T-Shirt, black or navy shorts or joggers and black pumps. They can wear their PE kit to come to school on their PE day. This half term we have PE on a THURSDAY.

Reading Books

Please complete the reading book form to indicate that you you’re your child to bring a school reading book home.

Reading books to be brought in by Friday to be changed the following Monday and Monday to be changed for Friday.

Please read with your child for a short period each night encouraging them to sound out unfamiliar words and read with fluency and expression. Please make a comment in your child’s reading record and return this with the reading book on the days stated. There is a £3 charge for any lost or damaged reading books.

Spellings will be sent out each week, starting with common exception words. We will also send the Year 3 half termly spelling list. Please practise with your child at home. We are also practicing these in class. There is a homework menu detailing homework that can be completed for the half term.

Children are encouraged to bring water to drink in the classroom. Please provide your child with a refillable reusable bottle  to reduce the amount of plastic waste in our environment. Children can only have water in class.

Inhalers/Prescribed Medicine

If your child needs an inhaler, could you please send it in with a name label and instructions on when to take it. All parents must sign a medical consent form in the main Reception to authorise any medicines to be administered by staff.

I look forward to working with you and your child this year.
