Welcome to Year 5/6 CF
Teacher: Miss Farrelly-Treanor
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Fagan
Year 5/6 can enter school between 8:40-8:50am via the Sports and Art’s building gate. Children are to be collected from this same gate at 3:10pm. If your child is in Year 6 and you want them to walk home alone, then you must provide written consent which should be addressed to the class teacher.
Your child will be provided with stationery in school. They have access to a zipped wallet/tray with their own equipment/stationery to use. Please avoid sending personal equipment such as pencil cases etc. into school during this time.
Please ensure your child has the correct uniform for school. All uniform, especially jumpers/cardigans and coats should be labelled clearly with your child’s name. School shoes should be black and trainers are not permitted. Please ensure if your child has hair past shoulder-length that it is tied up for school.
After half term, P.E will take place on Wednesday afternoons. Children should come to school wearing their P.E kit on Wednesdays. P.E kit consists of black shorts, a white t-shirt and black pumps.
Missing school regularly will have a detrimental effect on your child’s learning. Please make sure that your child is in school on time and attends every day. If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please contact the school office to inform them.
If you have signed up to the home reading scheme, then your child will receive a new book to read each week. Books will be changed every Wednesday. Please make sure you sign your child’s home reading journal before they return their book. There is a £3 replacement fee for lost books. If you would like to sign up to the home reading scheme, please contact school for a letter.
Children should bring a water bottle to school each day. Children will need to take their water bottles home each day to be washed.
If your child has prescribed medicine or an inhaler, please contact the school office who will provide you with a consent form for staff to administer the medicine. Inhalers should be clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Our homework menu is updated each term. Homework tasks are linked to the current topics we are learning about in class. There will be a celebration date each term for children to share their homework/projects with their classmates.
Spellings are tested each week and are based on the Year 5/6 spelling list. Your child will receive their spellings every Monday and will be tested every Friday. Opportunities are planned throughout the week for your child to learn their spellings in school, however please encourage them to read over and practise their spellings at home too.
