Staff
Miss Smeltzer - Class teacher
Mrs Fagan - Teaching assistant
Welcome back for another fantastic year at St Marie's. Below you can find some important information about your child's routines, expectations for the year as well as being able to see what we have been learning. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask Miss Smeltzer or Mrs Fagan.
Attendance
It is so important that your child comes to school everyday unless they are too poorly to attend. If your child is too ill to come into school, then please contact the school office at the earliest opportunity to keep us informed.
Punctuality
Please ensure that your child arrives to school on time (8.55am). Lessons begin as soon as the children get to class.
Uniforms
Children must wear the correct school uniform daily. Please ensure that their uniform, including their coats and P.E kits are labelled with their full name. Their school uniform is a reflection of our class and our school, especially when we are outside of school or have visitors in our classroom.
P.E Kits
Our P.E lessons are on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Please ensure that your child has the appropriate P.E kits so that they can participate in the lesson. P.E kits can be left be in school during term time and taken home at half term.
Reading books and homework
Reading books will be changed weekly if you have returned your home reader letter. If you have not received this letter then please ask Miss Smeltzer or Mrs Fagan for another copy to be sent home. Please read with your child regularly to encourage expression, comprehension and an overall love for reading. There is a £3 charge for damaged or lost reading books.
Homework is sent out on Mondays and is to be returned by Friday. Homework will consist of spellings, to be tested on Fridays, and a piece of English or Maths homework. If you wish to complete additional homework with your child, then please see the spelling and times table 'Takeaway Menus' that have been sent home with the children. Any additional spelling or times table practice is highly beneficial for your child.
Water Bottles
We encourage the children to drink water in class so that they can stay hydrated throughout the day. Could you please ensure that your child has a water bottle, containing water only, for use in class.
Inhalers and Medicine
If your child needs an inhaler, please send it into school with a name label and instructions of use. All parents must sign a medical consent form (available from the main reception) to authorise any medicines to be adminsitered by staff.
