Class Information

Attendance and Punctuality

It is important that your child has good attendance as the government sets a requirement of 98% attendance throughout the school year. It is also important that your child arrives on time as this minimises disruption to their learning. Please make sure that your child arrives to school on time. If your child is going to be absent, please ring school to let us know.

Uniform

Please ensure your child has the correct uniform and has their name in everything including their coat and P.E Kit. Their school uniform is a reflection of the class, especially when we are out of school or when we have visitors into the classroom.

PE

P.E. lessons will take place every Wednesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has a labelled P.E. kit bag in school. The kit should remain in school until the end of each half term, when it will be sent home to be washed.

The P.E. kit consists of:

  • A blue P.E. t-shirt

  • Black or blue shorts

  • Black P.E. pumps

Reading Books

Reading books are changed every Monday.  Please encourage your child to read for a short period each night, encouraging them to sound out unfamiliar words and read with fluency and expression. Children also have access to the online reading programme 'Reading Plus'. Please make a comment in your child’s reading record and return this with the reading book. Please note, there is a £3 charge for any lost or damaged reading books.

Homework

Homework in Year 6 will focus on supporting the key skills needed for success. Each week, children are
expected to read regularly at home, both from their chosen reading book and through Reading Plus online. They will also practise arithmetic to strengthen their fluency with number facts and written methods. In addition, our homework menu, which offers a range of creative and topic-based activities, is available on the school webpage for families to access and enjoy together.

Water

Your child is encouraged to bring a water bottle in to school which they can refil throughout the day.

Inhalers/Prescribed Medicine

If your child needs an inhaler, could you please send it in with a name label and instructions on when to take it. All parents must sign a medical consent form in the main Reception to authorise any medicines to be administered by staff.
