Music

At St Marie’s Catholic Primary School, our musical curriculum aims to inspire children’s creativity, self-expression, and love of music. We endeavour to expose children to a wide range of musical experiences to foster a lifelong appreciation of music. Through music lessons, children develop skills in singing, playing tuned and untuned instruments, improvising, composing, listening, and responding to music. We use the Sing up scheme of work to develop our children's musical knowledge and skills. Our children also have the opportunity to learn a range of instruments in KS2.

Music a sacred subject
The universal language of Music embodies and gives expression to one of the highest forms of creativity and communication. The transformational power of music offers all learners a channel to discover their God-given talents. Music endeavors to enable pupils to give expression to the heights and the depths of their emotions, hopes, and longings and may transcend the limitations found in other forms of communication.
